Open Rehearsal with Madison McGain

  • Alexander Academy of Performing Arts Studios (Queen Ka'ahumanu Center) 275 West Kaahumanu Avenue Kahului, HI, 96732 USA (map)

We are thrilled to announce that Madison McGain will be our Spring SEED Residency choreographer this month. Born and raised on Maui, Madison has been part of the Adaptations Dance Theater family as a guest dance artist since 2019. This residency marks a beautiful full-circle moment — her first choreographic project with ADT.

Come meet Madi and our dance artists, and get a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process! This is a wonderful opportunity to experience the work in process, ask questions, and support new dance being made right here at home.

We hope to see you there as we celebrate Madi’s first creation with ADT and continue nurturing local artists with global voices.

ABOUT MADISON

Madison is currently based in Brooklyn, where she has built a dynamic freelance career as both a performer and dance maker. She began dancing at age three here on Maui and later earned her BFA from Adelphi University in 2017. Since then, she has performed with creators and companies across the East and West Coasts, including Adaptations Dance Theater, Nicole Von Arx, Fullstop Dance, Caitlin Adams, Randee Paufve, and Taq Dance.

As a choreographer, her work has been presented at venues such as the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History, The Craft NY, Small Plates Dance Festival, The New Work Series, Arts On Site, and SafeHouse Arts. She has taught at respected institutions including ODC, Western Oregon University, and Shawl-Anderson Dance Center. In 2025, she was a guest artist in residence at The Sable Project in Vermont, where she developed her newest solo work, Before the Sun Sets.
