Sharp & Fine is a San Francisco based contemporary dance company founded in 2011 by sisters Megan Kurashige and Shannon Kurashige. They create performance work that brings together physically exacting choreography, structured improvisation, emotionally nuanced text, and live music to explore the power of theatrical narrative.
This workshop will introduce dancers to S&F’s movement aesthetic--which draws on classical ballet, contemporary floor work, and earnest physical recklessness--through an exploration of phrase work and playful improvisation.
Workshop is for intermediate or advanced level dancers.
Tickets: $20 by registering online or $25 at the door
Megan and Shannon are San Francisco based dancers and choreographers. In addition to co-directing Sharp & Fine, they have collectively worked with Liss Fain Dance, Christian Burns (burnsWORK), Alex Ketley (The Foundry), Amy Seiwert, Ballet Pacifica, and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montreal. Sharp & Fine is a resident company at the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance. Megan and Shannon grew up in California, but have family on both Maui and Kauai. They are visiting Maui to do research for a new project for S&F and are looking forward to meeting some of Maui’s excellent dancers. Read more about Sharp & Fine.
