Bring it Home

Over the years Maui has produced truly astounding artists that are currently dancing with some of the nations most innovative companies.  Audiences all over the world get to enjoy the passion and artistry of these dancers...

Why don't we?

Since its inception, one of the driving goals of ADT has been to contribute to and sustain the art movement in Hawaii by offering a home to professional dancers. With Bring it Home, we hope to further that goal by engaging professional dancers who currently reside in Hawaii as well as bring home Hawaii-raised dancers who are currently working in dance outside of Hawaii. By showing the enormous talent in dance that Hawaii has to offer, we hope to change the way our community thinks about contemporary dance and its place in Hawaii.

This year’s Bring it Home will feature ADT company members and artists who currently reside on Maui, as well as two professional Hawai'i-raised dancers who currently work outside of the state: Ali McKeon and Katie Istvan. Alvin Ailey II’s Nathaniel Hunt, who has repeatedly performed on Maui as a mentor and guest artist with the local nonprofit student dance company, Alexander Academy’s Performing Company, will also share the stage as the special guest artist for this two-day showcase of professional contemporary dance. Read more about the guests artists.

The 2016 Bring it Home concert will feature the world premiere of “A Riot of Bones” by Amelia Couture with original score by composer Toby Couture, alongside previous notable works by Hallie Hunt and Amelia Couture to round out the evening’s full-length performance.

Audiences at the Opening Night Gala will enjoy drinks, desserts, and the opportunity to mingle with the artists during a mid-show Q&A session and after their performance. The Saturday, June 18 show will be a reprise performance of the previous night’s dance program.

Tickets for the Bring it Home Opening Night Gala are $55 for adults and $25 for students 12 and under (with school ID). Tickets to the Reprise performance on Saturday, June 18 are $25 for adults and $15 for students.
